Pandemic Reprieve Spokane Parks A Saving Grace
Dated: April 12 2021
The Spokane housing market is hot and access to our public lands is on the decline.
If you ask any Spokanite what makes our area so special, they will surely mention our access to the outdoors from the bountiful lakes to our treed forests. Our public lands have been the saving grace of this pandemic. Nature provides a necessary escape from the world, a special form of healing unattainable by modern medicine.
As our area grows it is critical that we focus on preserving our public lands. Next time you are out enjoying the view from our many city, county, and state parks take a moment and remember our tax dollars and our donations make this all possible. The county conservation futures program has certainly helped secure critical land near development and the vision of the Olmstead Brothers. Many non-profits are working hard along with governmental agencies to secure more land as our area grows, but they need our help.
How can we help? It’s easy to point the finger at developers as the “bad guy”, the reality is we need more housing and development is inevitable. The supply of homes in Spokane is some of the worst in the nation, our area is increasingly desirable for its mix of city amenities, low-cost living, and rural escapes. Let’s keep it that way bearing in mind our natural areas, connectivity to nature, and access to recreation for all.
As a real estate team, we are putting money where our mission is by building community through the sale of residential real estate. If you are in the market to buy or sell a home and want to be a part of the solution, start by working with an EvoReal broker today. We will give back 20% of our commission to land conservation groups as a show of good faith toward mother earth and our future generations (simply mention this post).
